FAQs

Where are you located?
I offer virtual therapy to anywhere you might be in the state of Texas!
What happens in the first session?

We will complete necessary paperwork that includes gathering some personal history particularly related to what brought you into therapy. We will also begin the process of getting to know one another and setting a course for treatment (e.g., goal setting).

What if I need to cancel?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you are unable to reschedule your session during the same week, then you will be charged the full session fee. The reason for this is because I have set aside this time for you; and if you are unable to make it any longer, then it leaves too small of an amount of time to fill the spot with another client.

If you are able to reschedule your session during the same week, then the fee will be waived.

If an unexpected life event comes up, we can chat about it on an individual basis.

Do you take my insurance?

I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield but not the following plans who outsource their coverage to Magellan Healthcare: Blue Advantage, Health Select of TX.

I am also an out-of-network provider. Many insurance plans will reimburse you for a percentage of my fee. I assist by providing a Superbill (contains information regarding the work we will be doing in session) for you to submit to your insurance. I suggest you call your insurance to find out your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Insurance companies place significant restrictions on the work we do. To justify treatment coverage, they first require a diagnosis. They also determine how many sessions and the type of treatment that you need. This, as you can imagine, can be harmful to your individual needs and progress.

Do you offer a consultation?

Yes, I offer a free 20-minute consultation in person or over the phone. During this time, we will discuss the reasons you are seeking therapy and your personal goals for growth and change. If we agree that we are a good fit, then we will schedule our initial session.

I’m kind of on the fence. How can therapy be helpful to me?

You are likely considering therapy, because everything you have tried to feel better isn’t working. But you’re worried that therapy won’t help either.

Therapy offers an objective point of view, education, and exploration that can help you understand where and why you are stuck and teach you how to unlearn destructive habits and replace them with new and more healthy ones.

It helps you learn to listen to yourself better, trust yourself more, and bravely take actionable steps toward building a happier and healthier life.

Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes.

Who do you work with?

I work with women and men aged 18+. My sweet spot is professionals 25 and up who are struggling to try and have it all.

Also working with moms – stay-at-home and those who work outside the home – is my cup of tea. Clients must be highly motivated and ready to get to work.

What’s it like working with you?

Well, I’d say I’m a pretty relaxed, shoes off, crisscross-applesauce-sitting kind of gal.

I’m big into looking and thinking outside the box. I love including the science part of therapy and teaching you about your body and brain. I’m also a straight shooter and have a tendency to drop an F bomb here and there.

What is your approach?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This approach focuses on how thoughts lead to feelings and then determine the behavioral choice.

Cognitive distortions (unhealthy and often unrealistic thought patterns) are challenged and changed through exploration.

This process improves one’s ability to better manage their emotions and thus leads to better behavioral choices and outcome. It is an action-oriented (can’t just think about it, you must actually DO), problem-solving, and present-focused work.

Also, there are decades of research showing its effectiveness in treating all disorders. We call this evidence-based treatment. It is also a thread through most other therapeutic approaches as well.

Is telehealth an option?

As a matter of fact, yes, it is.

Telehealth is therapy via video. This takes places over a secure video platform and is HIPAA-compliant.

That means it is confidential, and your health information is protected. As long as you have WIFI and can find a quiet place to talk, we can do therapy anywhere.

What are your hours?

Monday – Thursday: 9am-4pm.

How long are your sessions?

Each session is 50 minutes long.
